Over the past two years, Gilbert has implemented consecutive rate hikes—50% in 2024 and 25% in 2025—to fund critical projects such as replacing old sewer lines and constructing a new water treatment facility. Despite concerns from residents about escalating bills, an independent audit presented to the town council found no major issues with the water meters. The audit reviewed seven million transactions over six years and identified anomalies in less than 3% of the cases, indicating that the billing system is functioning correctly.
